Emotional intelligence is the concept that is increasingly attracting attention in the contemporary business thanks to clear insight into the wide range of positive effects it has on organizational success. The concept itself refers to intelligent responses to negative emotions, as well as using specific skills to produce positive emotions both in oneself and in others through the presence, empathy, authenticity, resilience and empowering positive behaviors. Researches has shown that awareness of one’s own emotions, as well as the ability to manage them predict more success than a classical intelligence. EI has been shown to have a significant positive correlation with high performance, leadership skills, commitment, resilience, high sales performance, as well as high customer service skills.

Since conceptualization of emotional inteligence (EI) in contemporary psychology, there have been different perceptions of how it can be measured. The essential difference in these approaches is based on a different view of the nature of this concept. According to the approaches taken so far, EI can be seen as an ability (EQ), a personality trait, or as a tendency in behavior that is susceptible to change, represented by a developmental approach. The developmental approach enables the measurement of EI for the purpose of selection, but also for the purpose of its further development.
